The Treatment

How does it work?

A Dermavisc treatment often takes no more than 15-20 minutes. Prior to treatment, the therapist talks about the product and explains how the treatment will proceed. The therapist will take careful account of your requests and will document your treatment for future visits.

It is important that you inform your therapist of any previous treatments you have had, and whether you have any allergies.

Dermavisc is injected under the skin using a thin needle. The treatment does not leave any scars or visible marks on the skin.

Is the treatment painful?

Most persons do not experience the treatment as being especially painful, but it is possible you may feel a sensation of pinching and pulling in the skin during the procedure. If you experience discomfort during the procedure, you should notify your therapist immediately.

Before the treatment, the therapist will use a numbing cream on the areas to be treated. If you are planning to have your lips made to look plumper, you will also be given a numbing injection. Discuss this with your therapist.

Are there any side effects?

Immediately after the treatment it is common for the skin to become slightly red, swollen and tender in the area that has been treated. This discomfort usually dissipates after a few days or up to a week.
The lips are particularly sensitive and swell easily, often while the injection is being carried out. It is not uncommon for swelling to remain for a few days or for up to a week. The final results of your lip treatment will therefore be most visible after about one week.

How long do the results last?

Since hyaluronic acid is biologically degradable, the results are not permanent. How long the effect lasts varies widely from one individual to another and depends on several factors, such as the structure of your skin, your age, lifestyle, and the area of the face that has been treated.

In order to prolong the effect of your treatment, you should try to avoid excessive exertion and avoid exposing the treated area to strong sunlight for a few days after treatment. Alcohol and smoking can also have a considerable impact on how long the treatment lasts.

If a follow-up appointment is made after the first treatment, the effect can last for up to one year. You can also maintain the effect by using Hyamin E facial cream, which is based on the same natural hyaluronic acid as Dermavisc.

Things to keep in mind both before and after the treatment

Tell your therapist in as much detail as possible what you hope to get out of your treatment and what your expectations are with respect to the results of the treatment. This will make it easier for the th erapist to realise your wishes as fully as possible. Also mention any previous treatments, medical history, current health conditions and any allergies or medications.

Avoid using medicines that contain acetylsalicylic acid or other pain-relieving or fever-reducing substances for a few days prior to the treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the treatment site. Also avoid alcohol for a few days leading up to treatment, as this can also cause bruising.

The skin will recover quickly after treatment with Dermavisc. However, in order to obtain the best results it is important to exercise some degree of caution for a few days after treatment. Do not use any make-up for the first full day after treatment and do not expose your face to strong sunlight or indoor tanning lights. You should also be careful with respect to alcohol, rigorous exercise and extreme temperatures.
