What is Dermavisc^®?

Dermavisc is a natural, pure and transparent gel that is used to correct and shape facial wrinkles and creases, and to make lips look plumper. The Dermavisc product line includes two products for cosmetic wrinkle filling: Dermavisc smooth and Dermavisc ease. The products are based on the natural substance hyaluronic acid.

 

Why should I choose Dermavisc^®?

Dermavisc is made from natural hyaluronic acid that is very similar to the body's own hyaluronic acid. The product is entirely Swedish-made and has a very high level of quality thanks to careful quality control and a unique production process. Dermavisc is a reliable product that is well tolerated by your skin and that is easy for the therapist to work with.

 

How is Dermavisc^® manufactured?

The hyaluronic acid in Dermavisc is extracted from cockscomb and goes through a process in which the product is purified and quality tested in several stages. Dermavisc is manufactured by Bohus BioTech AB in Strömstad, a company with 20 years of experience in the manufacture of high-quality hyaluronic acid-based products for ocular surgery and other applications.

 

How does a treatment work?

The actual treatment often takes no more than 15-20 minutes, depending on the area of the face to be treated. Before the treatment, the therapist will talk about the product and the treatment and you will have the chance to say a little about yourself and describe what you are looking for. In the treatment room you will be either sitting or lying on a bed, and the therapist will begin the treatment by applying a numbing cream. Dermavisc is then injected into the skin using a thin, fine needle. The treatment does not leave any scars or lasting marks on the skin.

 

Can any side effects occur?

After treatment the skin will often become a little red and swollen and there may sometimes be slight bruising at the treatment site. This discomfort usually subsides after a few days or up to one week. Do not hesitate to speak with your therapist if you are uncertain about this.

 

What is important to keep in mind before a treatment?

Tell your therapist in as much detail as possible what you hope to get out of your treatment and what your expectations are with respect to the results of the treatment. This will make it easier for the therapist to realise your wishes as fully as possible. Also mention any previous treatments, medical history, current health conditions and any allergies or medications.
Avoid using medicines that contain acetylsalicylic acid or other pain-relieving or fever-reducing substances for a few days prior to the treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the treatment site. Also avoid alcohol for a few days leading up to treatment, as this can also cause bruising.

 

What areas of the face can be treated?

Dermavisc smooth can be used for treatment of fine and superficial wrinkles and creases in the forehead, around the mouth and the corners of the mouth.
Dermavisc ease is used primarily to fi ll out and make the lips look plumper and to create a nice Cupid's bow The product can also be used for deeper lines and creases, such as frown lines or downturned corners of the mouth.

 

How long do the results last?

Since the hyaluronic acid in Dermavisc is biologically degradable, the results are not permanent. How long the effect lasts depends varies widely from one individual to another, and depends on several factors such as skin structure, age, lifestyle and the area of the face treated. In order to prolong the effect of your treatment, you should try to avoid high levels of exertion and avoid exposing the treated area to strong sunlight for a few days after treatment. Alcohol and smoking can also have a considerable impact on how long the treatment lasts.

 

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that is found naturally in the human body. The main function of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to keep it moist, provide volume and assist in the formation of new tissue. The hyaluronic acid in the skin breaks down with age and the skin thereby loses its youthful elasticity and sheen.
